It Starts aNew

First of all, I decided to write this post late on a Friday because I am testing a theory.  I want to see if it is true that everyone is out on Friday night and nobody reads or checks their twitter feed, etc.  The second reason is because I was supposed to post last night and I found myself out having a great time and when I got home I was too tired.

There are many changes in my life, starting this Monday.  This is the reason for the title.  In the next few months, we will be in a process of transition and changes in the blog.  Since I have always worked on being transparent and giving the best advice possible, I hope to accomplish both by telling you a little more.

I am working on simplifying my life.  From reading only those books that interest me, to adding a workout routine that works with my training hours, to eating healthier and everything in between.  The goal right now is to eliminate activities and things that take too much time and add nothing of value.  I have hundreds, if not thousands, of magazine clippings in my room.  I am slowly going through the process of checking them out, and if they are more than a year old, I am trashing them.  The same is happening to my email and everything else that I call my own.

I am spending the next eight weeks taking a very important training and helping somebody develop their business.  Those are my two main goals.  And in order to be effective, I have to be ruthless.  If there is a request that takes me away from my family for the next eight weeks, the answer is a simple no.  I don’t have time or energy to dedicate to anything other than my two goals and my family.

I am getting ready for some great new adventures.  And in order to keep the blog going, there will be some changes here too.  I am posting only once a week.  Maybe it will be a piece like this, maybe another week it will be a video, another time it might be a poster or a poem.  Whatever it is, be sure to comment and let me know your impressions.

I really hope you find some inspiration so that you can procrastinate tomorrow.

And let me know what you think in the comments section below.

Just a Thought

I’ve been thinking about procrastination all week, as I procrastinate on creating content for my sites.  One idea just poped into my head?  Some friends have suggested that I have too many things on my plate.  Could it be that in the need to feel busy I have over extended myself?

What about you?  Have you made so many commitments that you cannot concentrate on any of them?  Are you adding things to your daily list just to avoid dealing with other things?

Let me know what you think on the comments section below.  Let’s start a conversation.

Starting Over Again?

You happen to live to the ripe old age of 40, 45 or maybe even 50.  You have worked several jobs, find one you like and for reasons that are none of my business, you find yourself starting over again.  What?  How many times are you going to do this to yourself?

It happens.  The days when you live in the same town your parents grew up in, had your children a couple of house away from them, had the same job for twenty or thirty years…those days are gone.  More important, as we start paying more attention to ourselves and our lives, it becomes obvious that if we don’t take care of ourselves, we have nothing to give to anyone, our children, our spouses, our community or our nation.

So why am I telling you what you already know?  Because it is my turn to start again, and I am tired of doing this every couple of years.  Today, I’m not feeling sorry for myself.  I am just plain tired.  Tired that things don’t work out, tired that I want something that does not seem to exist.  Tired that I want a good job, with a great company, full of people that are positive and energetic.  Is there such a place out there?  Or am I just wishing for something that I will never find.

Tell me about you.  What are you looking for?  Do you want to spend the rest of your life doing the same thing you are doing now?  Do you have dreams of something better?  Are you greatful for what you have now and want even more from your future?

Tell me about you on the comments section below.  Tell me what the future looks like for you.  Do you want to procrastinate in your career, stay where you are now or move on to something even better?

J.O.B.or Your Career

Let’s face it, some of us have a J.O.B. (just over broke) and some of us have a career.  The difference between one and the other is not only how much money you are making.  It is also about the attitude you have towards what you do for a living.

It does not matter if you make $10 an hour or $1,000, if you are not happy with what you do or how you do it, you have a JOB.  It is that simple.  There is something beautiful about the care and attention you put to anything you want to do and feel honored to do.  I don’t care if you scrub toilets or serve as a judge, if you care about what you do, it shows, it makes you happy and it is your calling.

I will never forget when I was young, one of our teachers talked about a janitor in a pharmaceutical plant.  When they asked the lady what she did for a living, she said she made it possible for millions to improve their health.  You see, she was not just thinking about her tasks, she was looking at the big picture of what her company did.  And that to her, was important.

I know many of you have had to go to work on jobs you might consider boring or beneath you because of the economy or some other personal situation.  What I am asking you to do is to look at it a little differently.  Think about your contribution. Look at who you are and what you do seriously.  Remember, we are all part of a bigger whole.

Do your part proudly and watch the difference that will begin with you as you stop thinking about a job, and start thinking about your career.  And if you are still unhappy with what you are doing, work to change it, little by little.  I will tell you, until you find satisfaction on what you do now, you will never find happiness anywhere else.  It is all about the attitude and not the job you have or the things you own.

What do you think?  Do you think attitude makes a difference?  Do you have a J.O.B.?  Do you think that how much you make has anything to do with how rich you truly are?  Procrastinate tomorrow and leave your thoughts on the comments below today.

What Do You Want to Do

As this new season of Procrastination Princess got under way, the question that is on my mind for you is:  What do you want to do?

As women, we tend to put everyone’s needs ahead of our own.  We think others dreams are more important than ours.  We even go as far as to think that our goals matter less.

I am giving you the opportunity to tell me what your goal is.  This is a space where you can talk without feeling judged.  It could be something as simple as learning to draw a straight line or loosing 20 pounds, or going on a trip to Africa.

Whatever it is, procrastinate tomorrow, and leave your goal on the comments section below, today.
